This standard applies to an interior latex low gloss paint for use on walls and ceilings, either new or previously painted. The paint is suitable for most types of wall surfaces, including wallboard, gypsum board, dry plaster, cement, brick and concrete block. For bathrooms and kitchens, coatings complying with CAN/CGSB-1.195 or CAN/CGSB-1.202, Type 2 may be preferable. The paint is self-priming and alkali resistant. Generally, no primers or sealers are quied, and two coats of paint complying with this standard will be adequate for most jobs. Abrade glossy surfaces to a dull finish prior to application to assure adequate adhesion. The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
